Been diagnosed with Atrial Tachycardia

Aloha !!!I want to start from the beginning ! So after returning home from honeymoon after a week in sunny lanzarote in June 2012 I collapsed and was diagnosed with a heart rhythm disorder called Supraventricular Tachycardia  (svt) I was giving beta blockers and referred to a cardiologist. My first time meeting my cardiologist I was giving an ECG and a scan of my heart were it was confirmed my heart rate was abnormally high, I was giving a 24 hour heart monitor to wear which confirmed my heart rate was always fast even when sleeping, but showed no abnormal rhythms. After collapsing numerous times and trying lots of different medication I was put on the waiting list for a Electrophysiological (EP) study were it was discovered I had  Atrial Tachycardia and my cardiologist carried out an Ablation which was only partially successful due to discovering my heart had a 2nd irregular pathway which was close to a nerve and was told it was to dangerous at this point. I was discharged and giving a new medication called Calcium Chanel Blockers to control my heart rhythm, 3 Months later I collapsed again and was admitted to hospital  with low blood pressure and my heart rate been abnormally high I was giving intravenous antibiotics and was giving medication to slow my heart rate down I was then placed on the waiting list again for another ablation.

  1. You have the same as me. SVT and IST. I had 2 failed ablations and spent years on medications.... Its horrible and terrifying. You would never know how much until you have it yourself.

I now have a new issue of 200+ ectopic beats a day which feel like your heart is stopping every time you have one.....

I live with it and most of the time don't let it bother me, I try to do everything I normally would (probably with higher anxieties) but life goes on.

I hope you are doing ok.

    xx
